Hi, friends! Welcome back to Browsing the Lou!
This week’s blog brings us to a hotspot in Kirkwood called The Novel Neighbor. This is a bookshop I’ve heard people rave about for so long, but hadn’t had the chance to visit yet, so I was so excited to pop in and explore!
This was another fun bookshop that had so much more than just books. From festive themed napkins to candles, tote bags, stickers, journals, and more, this shop held so many cute little trinkets and stationary items that would make the perfect gift for any book lover or loved one!
Another fun little thing about this place was that the selection never ended. It seemed that every corner I turned, there was more fun to be had. While I am a big reader, this shop had me captivated because of the way it offered so many things to look at with its cute tote bags, t-shirts, and more, that had fun little sayings and pictures about different communities and diversity, such as the LGBTQ+ community and the Black community. We love supporting a small business that’s all about inclusivity!

Okay, now I’m going to get into the part I loved most about this store: the books! Just like with their merch, the selection never ended! Everywhere I turned, there was a new shelf to explore. I loved how neatly organized the different book genres were and how much each genre had to offer. It doesn’t matter if you want to read a book full of recipes, American history, or the latest murder mystery; this store will have it!
One thing that’s really cool about this bookstore is that it has a whole little room dedicated to children’s books and getting them into reading. They start with babies. From onesies to toys and a baby’s first book all the way up to elementary, middle school, high school, and beyond, this bookstore is inclusive to all age groups. Parents, if you’re at the stage of getting your kids to read, this is the place for you!

My absolute favorite part of this store that made me want to come back again and again was the whole separate part of the store dedicated to Romance and Rom-Com novels. Complete with a pink Christmas tree, cozy seating, pink decorations, and romance-themed merch as well as books, the vibes were all there. I felt as if I were in a Rom-Com movie myself awaiting my “meet-cute” with whomever would stroll into the shop next. I especially loved that there were themed wine glasses, self-care products, stickers, bookmarks, and even matches to go along with the girly, cozy vibe. Filled with hundreds of books and different genres of Romance, this part of the store is perfect for anyone looking for a good steamy or swoon-worthy read.

I honestly could have spent hours in this store. This has become one of my favorite bookshops I’ve been to for sure, and I will definitely be returning. I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s adventure to The Novel Neighbor! Stay tuned for next week’s article to come with me to our next stop at Left Bank Books in the Central West End! As always, thanks for reading!
